Upsell Anything: Selling Services & Products via Runnr.ai
Upsell Anything lets you pull the services and products already set up in your PMS into Runnr.ai, offer them to guests through AI-powered chat, and book them straight back into your PMS automatically.
How it works, in short
- Your product data is synced from your PMS into Runnr.ai's Services & Products page.
- Each newly-synced product starts in a "Requires setup" state. The AI will not offer or sell it until you configure it.
- Once configured, the AI can proactively offer the product to guests and, depending on the settings below, either book it automatically or route it to your front desk for approval.
Getting products synced
Syncing pulls your product list from your PMS into Runnr.ai's Services & Products page for a property using the Sync button at the top of the page. If you don't see the button, there are either no products, or your PMS is not supported yet.
Products that exist only in Runnr.ai (not in your PMS, e.g. a custom "laundry service") can still be created and sold, but see Limitations below regarding how they get booked.
Setting up a product
For each product marked "Requires setup," first you need to select the right template, or connect it to an already configured product.
After this, you'll configure the product information, and the booking settings:
| Setting | What it controls |
|---|---|
| Guest can book or purchase | Whether guests are allowed to request/purchase the product at all. |
| Subject to availability | Whether the order needs staff confirmation before it's final (see next section). |
| Bookable during the stay vs. only before check-in | E.g. breakfast is typically arranged before arrival only; other products can be added mid-stay. |
| Price | Free or paid, and the charge mode (per person / per night / per stay / one-time). |
| Availability window / timing | E.g. breakfast served 9:00–11:00 daily. Editable, including any weekend/holiday exceptions. |
| Description, location/pickup instructions | Free text shown to guests, e.g. where to collect an item or what's included. |
| Blockout Periods | Periods of time when the product can not be booked. |
| Image (optional) | Adds a photo to the guest-facing offer. |
You can also deactivate a product instead of completing setup, which removes it from the active list without deleting it. This can be useful if you'd rather keep your working list clean and revisit certain products later.
Booking logic: automatic vs. front-desk approval
This is the key distinction to get right when configuring a product:
- Not subject to availability → When a guest requests or accepts the offer, Runnr.ai books it directly into your PMS automatically. No staff step required.
- Example: breakfast, where capacity isn't a constraint.
- Subject to availability → The request is routed to your front desk first. Staff confirms actual availability and approve before it's finalized in your PMS.
- Example: baby cots (limited stock) or early check-in (depends on whether the room is already cleaned).
Guests can still request/purchase a "subject to availability" item through the same chat flow. The difference is purely in whether it's confirmed instantly or held for staff sign-off.
Runnr.ai does not track physical stock/inventory counts (e.g. "we have 3 baby cots"). "Subject to availability" simply flags the order for a manual check by your team. It doesn't decrement a quantity automatically.
