How to Verify Your Meta Business Portfolio

Meta requires all businesses using the WhatsApp Business API to verify their Business Portfolio (formerly called Business Manager).

Verification confirms that your organisation is a legitimate business entity, and it unlocks higher messaging limits, the ability to display your official business name on WhatsApp, and access to advanced features like utility message templates. Without verification, your WhatsApp channel may face restrictions — including lower daily messaging limits and the inability to send proactive messages to guests.

Before you start

Make sure you have the following ready:

  • Admin access to your Meta Business Manager
  • Your official business name exactly as it appears in your chamber of commerce registration
  • A valid business address and phone number
  • Your Chamber of Commerce (KvK) number or equivalent business registration number for your country
  • A business website or other online presence that Meta can review

Note for Dutch properties: Meta frequently uses the Dutch Chamber of Commerce (KvK) as a verification reference. Make sure your KvK registration is up to date and publicly searchable at kvk.nl.

Step 1: Open Security Centre

  1. Go to business.facebook.com and log in with your Meta account.
  2. In the left-hand menu, click Settings (the gear icon).
  3. Under the Business Settings menu, scroll down and select Security Centre.

Step 2: Start the verification process

  1. In Security Centre, find the Business verification section.
  2. Click Start verification.

If you don't see this option, your account may already be verified, or it may not yet be eligible. Contact Runnr.ai support if you're unsure.

Step 3: Confirm your business details

Meta will ask you to confirm or enter:

  • Legal business name — use the exact name as registered with your national business registry
  • Business address
  • Business phone number
  • Website URL

Click Next once all details are filled in correctly.

Step 4: Select your verification method

Meta offers several ways to verify your business:

Method What you'll need
Business documents Official document such as a CoC/KvK extract, tax certificate, or utility bill
Domain verification Confirm ownership of your business domain via DNS record or HTML file
Phone/email Meta sends a code to a verified business phone number or email

Recommended: For most hotel and hospitality properties, the phone or email method is the quickest and easiest option. Meta sends a verification code directly to a confirmed business phone number or email address — no documents required.

Step 5: Upload your documents or complete verification

Depending on the method you chose:

  • Documents: Upload a clear, unedited scan or photo of the document. Accepted formats are PDF, JPG, or PNG. The document must clearly show your business name, address, and registration number.
  • Domain: Follow the instructions to add a DNS TXT record or upload an HTML file to your website.
  • Phone/email: Enter the code Meta sends you.

Step 6: Submit and wait for review

After submitting, Meta will review your application. This typically takes a few hours, though it can occasionally take longer during busy periods.

You'll receive a notification in Business Manager and by email when the review is complete.

After verification

Once your Business Portfolio is verified:

  • Your official business name becomes eligible to display on WhatsApp (requires a separate display name review)
  • Your messaging tier limits increase
  • You can submit utility and authentication message templates for approval
  • Your account is less likely to be flagged for policy reviews
