How to Edit Your WhatsApp Profile in Meta's WhatsApp Manager

This article walks you through how to edit your WhatsApp profile directly in Meta's WhatsApp Manager.


Your WhatsApp Business profile is often the first thing guests see when they receive a message from your property. Keeping it up to date — with the right display name, logo, contact details, and description — helps build trust and ensures your communication looks professional.

Before you start you'll need:

  • Access to Meta Business Suite
  • Admin or editor access to the WhatsApp Business Account (WABA) you want to update
  • Your WhatsApp phone number already registered and active

Step 1: Open WhatsApp Manager

  1. Go to business.facebook.com and log in.
  2. In the left-hand sidebar, click Settings (the gear icon), then navigate to Business Assets.
  3. Under Accounts, select WhatsApp accounts.
  4. Click on the WhatsApp Business Account you want to manage.
  5. Click Open in WhatsApp Manager — this takes you to the dedicated WhatsApp Manager interface.

Tip: You can also navigate directly to business.facebook.com/wa/manage.

Step 2: Select your phone number

WhatsApp profiles are linked to individual phone numbers, not the account as a whole.

  1. In WhatsApp Manager, click Phone Numbers in the left-hand menu.
  2. Find the phone number whose profile you want to edit.
  3. Click the Settings icon (gear) next to that number, or click on the number itself to open its details.

Step 3: Edit the profile

  1. Select the Profile tab.
  2. You'll see the following fields, all of which can be edited:
Field Notes
Profile photo Upload a square image (recommended: 640×640 px, JPG or PNG). This is your logo or property image. The profile will show this in a circle.
Display name The name shown to guests in WhatsApp. Must match your approved display name; changes may require Meta review.
About A short description shown on your profile (max 256 characters).
Address Your property or business address.
Description A longer description of your business (max 512 characters).
Email A contact email address.
Website One or two website URLs.
  1. Make your changes in the relevant fields.
  2. Click Save to apply.

Note on display name changes: If you need to change your display name, this is subject to Meta's approval process and may take a few days. The name must comply with Meta's display name guidelines.

Step 4: Verify your changes

After saving, reload the page to confirm your updates are showing correctly. Changes to the profile photo and text fields typically take effect immediately, though it may take a short time to propagate to all users.

Common issues

I don't see a Profile tab. Make sure you're looking at the individual phone number settings, not the WhatsApp Business Account overview. Navigate to Phone Numbers, click the specific number, and then select the Profile tab.

I can't edit the display name. Display name changes require a formal request and are reviewed by Meta. If the field is greyed out, your account may have a pending review or restriction. Contact Meta Support via the WhatsApp Manager Help Centre.

My profile photo isn't updating. Try clearing your browser cache and refreshing. If the issue persists, ensure your image meets the size and format requirements (JPG/PNG, 640×640 px recommended, under 5 MB).

I don't have access to WhatsApp Manager. You need to be added as an Admin or Editor on the WhatsApp Business Account in Meta Business Manager. Ask your account admin to grant you access under Business Settings → Users.
